Gathered Around a Hospital Bed: Isaiah’s Adventure Part 4

Our entire family had the blessing of visiting Isaiah at the hospital this afternoon, including all seven of his sisters, his grandparents, uncles, aunts, and one of his close cousins, Dominic.

It was really really hard for all of us to see our sweet, happy, precious Isaiah in his present condition. But God is so good. We were able to be there for nearly 5 hours, praying, crying, and singing hymns to Jesus.

Isaiah is still completely unresponsive, but the doctors say that, depending on the trauma to his brain, he may be able to hear us when we speak to him. Isaiah has many precious promises whispered in his ear and love from siblings and parents and family. Dominic (7), is one of Isaiah’s closest pals. He came to the hospital with sweet letters he and his siblings wrote and read them aloud to Isaiah.

There is no change in his condition. The only thing that whispers of life, is that when you put your hand on his chest, you can feel his little heart, fluttering beneath the wires, and gauze, and scratched up skin. My parents are staying at the hospital again with him tonight as the rest of us go home and try to get a good nights sleep, so we can come back and see him again tomorrow.

The love and support we have felt from all of you is beyond words. Thank you all so much for your prayers and sweet messages.

“For I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us….For in this hope we were saved…In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?…Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?….No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8

Soli Deo Gloria,

  1. I am weeping as I read through your articles. Not so much because of the loss of your dear Isaiah, but because of the beauty and faithfulness of your sweet family. I thank God for you all and for the testimony you give of the majestic and fathomless love of our God. You have greatly encouraged me today.
