Speaking

Sydney Anne Bennett is a speaker, content creator, and author whose work sits at the intersection of faith, disability, and suffering.
After being diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and becoming a wheelchair user in her twenties, Sydney’s life and theology were built from the inside out. What began as private suffering became a public ministry that now encourages an audience of almost 400,000 people.
Sydney lives in rural Idaho with her husband Colton and their two daughters, Hadassah (2)and Felicity (6 months).
Speaking Topics
Below are some sample speaking topics. Sydney customizes each talk for the event and audience and will take special requests for topics and venues.
- Fearfully and Wonderfully Broken: Suffering, Identity, and the Goodness of God
What happens when your body unravels? What happens when your whole future becomes a terrifying, and perhaps extremely painful, unknown? This talk explores chronic illness, loss of autonomy, and rebuilding identity when your strength disappears. A theology of weakness must be sturdy, not sentimental, or it won’t survive the hardships of this world.
Ideal for: women’s conferences, faith gatherings, retreats, disability awareness events.
2. The Myth of Independence: Dependence, Marriage, and the Beauty of Needing Others
Our culture worships self-sufficiency. Sydney dismantles the illusion of independence and reframes dependence as a gift in marriage, friendship, church, and community. Dependence is a feature of human beings being made in the image of God. In fact, this whole life is about learning dependence – on God and on others – in the right way.
Ideal for: marriage conferences, church retreats, women’s ministry events.

3. Motherhood in a Body That Hurts: How to Redefine Presence, Slowness, and “Good Parenting”
“How do you keep up with your kids in a wheelchair?” This might Sydney’s most asked parenting question. But what if faithful motherhood is not measured by productivity, but by presence? Sydney shares how disability reshaped her expectations and exposed both the idol of capability and the gift of (often forced) slowness in a world that glorifies busy schedules and endless activities.
Ideal for: motherhood conferences, parenting events, homeschool communities.
4. God Writes Good Stories (Even If Yours Feels Too Messy To Use)
Many people believe their lives are too fractured and “messy” to be meaningful. This talk dismantles that lie. God does not wait for polished stories (there are none). He is a good author and writes good stories through the wreckage.
Ideal for: faith conferences, creative retreats.
5. Living Faithfully in Fragility: A Theology of Pain in the Life of Image-Bearers
A deeply needed conversation about the theology of the body, suffering, visibility, and dignity, both for those living with disability and those walking alongside them.
Ideal for: disability ministries, Christian colleges, ministry leadership and outreach.
